Remembering Fall with Almond Pumpkin Doughnuts

Like many other people, fall is my favorite time of year. I think it's the cool air and anticipation of the holiday season that breathes life into everyone's spirit. What ever it is, it feels good.

I've experienced many falls living east Texas, southern Washington, central Alaska, central Oregon, eastern Massachusetts, and now southern California. My perfect fall will always be central Alaska. The air turns crisp overnight, hills turn every color of fall, the sky is wide and clear, snow comes early making everything eerily quiet, and the night sky dances with the aurora. It's perfect.

Fall in SoCal is like a loved one living far away. I know its out there and I'll see it again but there is an emptiness without its presence. I can't talk to fall on the phone like I can my loved one, but I can create with its bounty.

In my opinion, pumpkin is fall's greatest bounty. It is so overused and it should be! Pumpkin is amazing. It is rich, sweet and full of texture and flavor. Everyone should celebrate the season with this big, orange, fruity friend of ours! I am celebrating today with Almond Pumpkin Doughnuts.
